Safer Internet Day 2015 (SID) is on Tuesday 9 February 2016, with the strapline of “Let’s create a better internet together”.
Promoting Safer Internet Day is part of our Community Ambassador’s role and the Safer Internet Day encourages safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people.
Various resources have been made available to us help teach eSafety in your school
Community Ambassadors at Baxter College ran the White Ribbon Campaign in their school. The main school entrance had an impressive display stand raising awareness of domestic violence and students were encouraged to sign up to the pledge “Say NO to domestic abuse and sexual violence and say YES to healthy and respectful relationships”.
The whole of Stourport High School embraced the Anti-Bullying campaign “Make some noise”.
All students, staff, members of the local community pledged to stamp out bullying with “foot selfies”. Each year group also took part in a conga around the school spreading anti-bullying messages as they went. Each tutor group designed an anti-bullying slogan and the winning slogan will make up part of our community pledge which is to stamp out bullying.
All our Community Ambassadors have been busy planning activities in their high schools, to advise peers about domestic abuse and where to go for help if they feel they need it.
The Ambassadors plan to hold assemblies, ask fellow students to sign a pledge against domestic abuse which we will load onto the White Ribbon Campaign website, set up information stands and wear white ribbons all to raise awareness.
